Merquén Chile, Crushed

A blend of smoked and sun-dried chiles, salt, spices and sunflower oil, Merquén Chile can be used as a replacement for fresh chile in Chilean dishes, and is a delicious seasoning for lentils, ceviches, meat rubs, and even as a seasoning for boiling seafood.

Merquén Chile (sometimes spelled Merken) is a smoked chile / spice blend traditionally used by the Mapuche people of south-central Chile.

Use Merquén Chile in savory pies, stews and soups, to dress up olive oil for a bread dip, or use in unconventional ways — popcorn or Chex, or other snack mix, or in your Bloody Mary mix!
